Island View Home Photographed

In addition to our design work in rural locations around New England, we enjoy working on homes in a more urban context. In late 2011, a young family approached us with the hopes of renovating their Island View Home, in downtown Portland, Maine. Among other items, the changes they hoped for included a new kitchen, mudroom entryway, and a master bedroom suite. We were happy to help, and collaborated closely with them to meet their design goals. In addition, we worked to specify energy efficiency improvements that will make the home more comfortable to live in, and economically viable, over the long term. Thanks to the hard work of the crew at RP Morrison Builders, the family moved in by Thanksgiving of 2012.

It’s now fun to look back and compare some of the before photos, along with our conceptual sketches, to the completed photography of Jonathan Reece.

Thank you to Dad, Mom, and Baby for allowing us to disrupt your morning. We hope you enjoy the view from your neighborhood home, in our beautiful city, for many years to come.
