We're Hiring: Architectural Designer

We design homes that live with nature because we believe nature inspires the human spirit. For more than 40 years, this belief has guided our practice. From our studio in Portland, Maine, we design homes throughout the Northeast.

This is a full-time, on-site position in our Portland studio.

  • Develop design ideas through drawing, modeling, research, and iteration
  • Produce clear, detailed construction documents and 3D models in Archicad
  • Collaborate with project leaders, clients, builders, and consultants throughout design and construction
  • Participate in site visits, document construction progress, and generate field reports
  • Prepare compelling design presentations
  • Contribute energy, ideas, and a collaborative spirit to our work and studio

Qualifications

  • Approximately five years of professional architectural experience, including substantial construction-document experience
  • Strong design sensibility and graphic communication skills demonstrated through your portfolio
  • NAAB-accredited professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch)
  • Understanding of light-frame wood construction and building science fundamentals
  • Proficiency in Archicad; experience with SketchUp, Twinmotion, Morpholio Trace, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Care for craft, accuracy, and the quality of finished work
  • Hands-on construction experience, professional or personal, is a plus
  • Maine resident or willingness to relocate to the Portland area
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites throughout Maine

Compensation & Benefits

  • Health & Dental Insurance: 100% individual premium paid by studio starting the 1st of the month following 30 days of employment; 60% contribution toward family/dependent coverage
  • Retirement: 401(k) with a 3% non-elective employer contribution after 90 days (no employee match required)
