In-Progress Outlook Cottage

Our final project in our Spring 2016 "in-progress" series, is Outlook Cottage in Boothbay Maine. We are hugely excited by this project, and its dramatic transformation, of a tired ranch on an incredible site, to a crisp modern home. Architecturally the strategy was one of subtraction, to simplify the rambling plan, and to accommodate open concept living. We removed poorly considered additions and unprotected decks in the floodplain velocity zone, and exposed the original ranch to light and view. The addition of covered porches provided the much-needed protected access to the landscape.

Engaged clients, and an outstanding build crew, Marden Builders, has made for a strong team. We look forward to Outlook Cottage’s completion in early summer 2016.
