Brianna Lopez

Designer

Having spent most of her life on Long Island, New York, Brianna learned to appreciate the juxtaposition of a bustling city in one direction and quiet, scenic, seaside towns in the other. Favoring the latter, Brianna would often venture with her family to the East End of Long Island to enjoy the farmstands and sandy beaches, developing a deep appreciation for being outdoors. During this time, she also became captivated by the distinct architecture found in the Hamptons—particularly the quaint, beachside cottages and remnants of 20th-century modernist houses. Fascinated by the thought of how homes are designed, she started crafting her own dollhouses with cardboard and paper, and her mother explained that this is what architects do. From that moment, she was determined to become an architect.

After graduating from New York Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Architecture in 2020, Brianna worked as a designer and project manager for Oza Sabbeth Architects in Bridgehampton, New York, collaborating with discerning clients to design their Hamptons dream homes. While working in the Hamptons, she became heavily involved with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Peconic chapter, serving as the Associate Liaison on the board for three years and founding the chapter's Emerging Professionals Committee.

With family ties to Maine on both sides, Brianna spent summers in midcoast Maine with her father and visited the southern coast in winter with her mother during her college years. Drawn to the state's natural beauty and character, she was inspired by the vernacular architecture that Maine has to offer and relocated to Portland to join the Whitten Architects team.

Outside of work, Brianna enjoys spending time with her two cats while reading or chatting on the phone with her grandmother. When the weather is nice, she can be found lakeside, ready to spend the day in the sun and connect with nature.
