site conditions: The third floor of an existing building in Portland's Old Port, subject to egress issues, the existing structure, and space constraints.
client program: An architects' office with versatile prototype workstations designed for one-on-one conferencing and work area privacy, an efficient use of space, and materials used in fresh & interesting ways.
design response: An entry featuring a curved translucent wall linking the arrival to the reception, conference spaces and central workstations, all of which incorporate birch plywood, translucent fiberglass panels, stainless fasteners, steel piping, drywall, carpet and slate. 2001 Winner - AIA Maine .
